(CNN) -fresh from a victory that saw a pair of online piracy Bill is saved, the Web-freedom advocates are now struggling to maintain their right to jailbreak their iPhone.
The Electronic Freedom Foundation, a key player in the fight against Online piracy stop Act, urges people to ask the US Government to declare that hacking their own smartphone, t or other device is not a crime.
“Smartphones, ts, and video game console is a computer that is strong with a lot of untapped potential,” the group said on its website. “Yet many of these devices are set to run only software that has been approved by the manufacturer.
“Modify the device to run independent software–known as jailbreaking was important for programmers, enthusiasts, and users.”
